Military Lending Act (MLA)
The Military Lending Act (MLA) provides protections for active duty service members and covered dependents from predatory lending practices that could negatively impact their financial well-being.
The act covers:
- Credit cards
- Payday loans
- Tax refund anticipation loans
- Vehicle title loans
- Private student loans
The MLA covers all active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces, reservists, and members of the National Guard while on active duty. Visit the Department of Defense's MLA site for more information.
